ABTech Goes Pink for Breast Cancer

breast-cancer-month

Each month ABTech has a pot-luck luncheon where employees make a special dish or bring in side dishes for all to share. Usually there is a theme assigned to these luncheons, Irish dishes around St. Patrick’s Day, or soups (chowdah’s to the locals!) during the harsh winter months. Barbecue’s during the summer are always popular with ABTech providing the meats for grilling. We even tried a “breakfast for lunch” theme once that turned into quite a variety of coffee cakes that were well sampled prior to lunch time!

These pot luck luncheon’s came from a suggestion by one of our machinists who added that each of us should kick in $5 so we could pool together and make a more sizable donation to a charity. We take suggestions for a different charitable organization and decide as a group on which one will be the beneficiary each month. So far we have donated to local food banks and soup kitchens, the Keene Fire Department’s winter coat drive, Habitat For Humanity, Wounded Warriors, Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team and canine search and rescue teams, the Prouty Challenge to support cancer research, among others.

In October, to support Breast Cancer Awareness month, ABTech’s employees have decided to give to the New Hampshire Breast Cancer Coalition, a great organization that supports local cancer patients in meeting their needs while undergoing their cancer treatments. In addition to our contribution we have accented our website with the color pink for the month and all employees were encouraged to wear pink for our luncheon on Thursday October 22nd. Instead of our usual pot luck by the employees, ABTech generously provided free pizzas, which were enjoyed by all!
